All Hail Comfort Food!

Since I’ll be having quite a long night tonight (many thanks to my aggravating insomnia), let me share you my current comfort food:

Cupcakes by Sonja

It’s none other than Cupcakes by Sonja!

After stumbling upon this mini-cupcake wonderland place found in Serendra Piazza, I got order myself a glass of yummy strawberry lemonade that really tastes superb whilst enjoying their free wifi. =) Before going straight to work (mind you, that’s some travel from Taguig back to Eastwood!), I took home a creme brulee for a try. Guess what? I just consumed it right before taking a pic! :P

Super duper yummy. I should have gotten a dozen of it, just like Our Awesome Planet did! Oh well, there’s always a next time. ;)

For those of you who are quite interested to try Cupcakes by Sonja Ocampo, feel free to visit their place at:
1 C 03 Serendra Piazza, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

Good News Philippines!

I just wonder why do we Filipinos submerge ourselves with nothing but bad news? Sad but true, it really beats our innate attitude of being one of the optimistic people in the world. It sorely kills our sunny disposition in life. Well, I myself cannot blame the majority for its utmost fixation for all the bad. I cannot deny the fact that most of this things truly need everyone’s heed–things like the obstinate push for charter change, book blockade, non-stop extrajudicial killings, swine flu pandemic, etc.

So here’s the recap for all the good things that happened in the Philippines as of this late:

Adieu Livre Bocus.

At last, the infamous (well, at least to most bloggers and Net-active bibliophiles) book blockade is over.

“President Arroyo ordered the immediate lifting of the customs duty on book importation,” Remonde said in a text message to The STAR.

It’s a great thing that UNESCO took heed, which made the government act fast. :)

Dear Ben & Jerry’s

Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Brownie Fudge Ice Cream in AntwerpMy open letter to Ben & Jerry’s :P

Dear Ben & Jerry’s,

The delectable taste of your ice cream that I once ordered during my stay in Belgium hasn’t sunk in yet. I know your ice cream tastes like heaven, especially that chocolate brownie fudge, which the beautiful ice cream vendor dubbed it as one of your specialties. I am fervently hankering for more. Too bad, I can hardly spot even a pint of tub today here in the Philippines.

It’s going, going, gone. The only time I scored a pint was last year in Rustan’s department store. It was much a pity that during my indulgent search for a tub of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, only one flavor was left. So, without any choice, I took the cinnamon-flavored ice cream and relished the tub back at home.

How I wish, akin to DQ and Haagen Dazs, that you would soon have a stall here in Manila, so I don’t have to go back to Antwerp just to grab one of your mouth-watering treats. I wish you would have not just one, but a variety of flavors of ice cream, in every specialty grocery store here in the Philippines.

XX,

Roanne
