Gadgety Weekend: Skull Candy + Transformers

Never mind having quite an upset stomach due to too much booze, I had fun, gadget-y weekend by finally getting my overpriced funky headphones and watching Megan Fox untainted Transformers II.

Skull Candy TI Headphones

Skull Candy TI in Black

*My “skull” in classic black*

Last Saturday, my feverish lust for getting a pair of smashing Skull Candy DJ headphones was finally fulfilled–and more than satiated! :P I was actually thinking of getting myself a GI in Winter or Desert Camo, or a very girly TI in pink fur. But, I gave in and settled for a Skull Candy TI in classic black.

Well, it ain’t bad coz I got my TI for a price of a GI (TI’s are normally a bit more expensive than GI’s). But, I won’t ever mind shelling out additional 10 bucks for a price of a TI if I’d be snagging this one Tokidokitalking about coolness! 8)

Oh well, it seems like I’m gonna look forward into getting it as soon as stocks are available in the Philippines.

T-T-Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Optimus Prime Jetfire Combined - Transformers

*Optimus Prime and Jetfire combined!*

I know, I know. The picture itself is worth a spoiler! My amazement goes to this scene from the much awaited Transformers 2. Shortly after getting my headphones with friend M, former office mates F, H, B, C and myself headed to Eastwood Cinemas to watch the robot-infused flick. Okay, so it was just weird seeing Megan Fox looking clean and hot throughout the movie (no unkempt hair look, not a single mote or stain in the face), whilst Shia and his ‘rents were all dirty and sodden.

But hey, the highlight of the story are, uhm, the autobots and the decepticons–particularly Optimus Prime and the Fallen. ;)

**Missing plot spotted though. Whatever happened to the twin robots (Mudflap and Skids) undauntedly fighting against Devastator???

Michael Jackson Dead at 50

Michael Jackon passed away at 50The world’s most renowned singer, the unprecedented King of Pop, was found dead early this morning.

The cause of Michael Jackson‘s death is not yet clear, but it was suspected to be cardiac arrest as he collapsed from his rented home in Los Angeles, California. The news is quite shocking and disturbing, so as the startling reaction of million of his fans worldwide.

I will forever cherish his hits such as Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat it, Rock with you, PYT, Black or White, and many more. Truly, he made quite a mark in music history by his revolutionary style and rhythm that changed music forever.

It sucks that MJ has to pass away long before his planned London concert in commemoration with Thriller’s 25th Anniversary (his album Thriller has been dubbed as the best-selling album of all time). His consummate performances, unparalleled legacy and moonwalks will forever live in our hearts and minds. :( Adieu, Michael!

Indulge in Art with Works from Hiyasmin De Guzman

Lately, it’s hard to know people who are both talented in traditional and digital art. Surely, I have a couple of friends I know who can wield a pen and bring a blank, livid canvass to life. One of them is Hiyasmin De Guzman.

Hiyas is a graduate of University of the Philippines in Diliman with a Degree in Fine Arts. She currently works as a graphic artist, drawing lovely female illustrations in their sexiest lingerie garb. I know, you may utterly hanker and request for one. :P But, let me show you first some of her artworks both traditional, digital and a mix of both. :)

Portraits of Lennon and Tolkien

John Lennon - Hiyasmin De Guzman

An ode to my favorite Beatle, John Lennon. This was based on one of his famous photos. I used silver poster color on the back of an illustration board for this. I had a bit of fun working on this because I was painting the broader bits and smudging some parts with my fingers.-Hiyas

J R R Tolkien - Hiyasmin De Guzman

My homage to J.R.R. Tolkien. I made this as a Christmas gift for a friend, who was a fellow fan of the author. My reference was his photo on my copy of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I actually drew an earlier portrait based on the same photo, but that was in charcoal and was given to another friend in high school.-Hiyas

Neil Gaiman’s Sandman-Inspired

She Beckons - Hiyasmin De Guzman

This one is heavily influenced by Art Nouveau. I’m a big fan of Alphonse Mucha and was going through one of my Mucha phases when I drew this. The autumn-inspired wreath thing on the background was to add warmth on what started as a mostly monochromatic watercolor piece. That, and I felt like autumn suited Neil Gaiman’s Death better than winter.-Hiyas
