Will Google Wave Revolutionize Online Communication?

Google Wave LogoMashable is getting some juicy buzz testing this new communication platform developed by Google. Google Wave is a real-time interactive communication and collaboration tool that’s yet to be launch later this year. The guys behind Google Maps with a small team in Sydney is behind this ingenious idea.

Google Wave is an all-in-one online communication tool. It’s a built-in e-mail, web chat, instant messaging and project management software. It has a replay feature which allows you to view previous conversions recorded, and a drag-and-drop feature which allows you to drag attachments from your desktop into Google Wave. File is loaded and sends it instantly to your group in a particular conversation. Moreover, it is embeddable, so there’s no problem showing Google Wave conversations into your blog or web site.

Wait. There’s more! The cooler part behind this platform are the Gadgets and Robots.

A gadget is an application users can participate with, many of which are built on Google’s OpenSocial platform. A good comparison would be iGoogle gadgets or Facebook applications. Robots, on the other hand, are an automated participant within a wave. They can talk with users and interact with waves. They can provide information from outside sources (i.e. Twitter (Twitter)) or they can check content within a wave and perform actions based on them (i.e. provide you a stock quote if a stock name is mentioned).-Mashable

Well, I’ve been seriously addicted into downloading various iPhone/iTouch applications, and I can’t wait to try these gadgets out! :P Earlier, it’s said to mix project management in it, so I expect some project management apps aside from the interactive ones.

I’m just a bit wary curious on the robots though, since this tool might be “abusive” in nature, depending on the circumstances. Like, how is the automation executed? And, is it likely to cause flood in conversation threads (waves)? Another thing is, is it susceptible to spam? In my opinion, if it’s automated, then there must be some serious “control” over it. Otherwise, it’s considered egregious.

Google Wave To Make E-mail Obsolete?

E-mail has been with us for decades, making it a vital, ubiquitous means of communication. It has made a huge impact on snail mail, since people prefer to send their letters and discourses on the web free-of-charge knowing that the receiver can get it in a jiffy, than to spend some time (and money) writing down, not to mention the tedious hours of queuing in the post office sans being granted of any assurance that the person is gonna receive it sooner or later.

With the launch of Google Wave, a question hovers: could it actually kill e-mail? What does it take to make e-mail a forgotten thing in the past?

There are so many questions raised, yet it’s too soon to find out. For me, I think it could create an impact, one way or another. Many people are quite adamant to Google updates, so it’s safe to say that this can hit the spot. Nevertheless, it may likely succeed or bomb, depending on how the huge audience (Google has) are gonna accept it. But for now, it looks like everyone’s pretty much excited! :D

To keep the fire burning, Google shares this demo video below:

Sharing to you my Spinach and Feta Pasta!

I must admit I was really delinquent about my plan of having vegetarian weekends, just ‘coz I couldn’t resist my grand mom’s cooking–Bistek (Filipino version of Beef Steak) and Hot Spaghetti (Yes, brimming with Tabasco sauce) to mention. Also, I stole a piece Kikiam, which is a meat byproduct, from my lil’ bro’ whilst having his lunch on a Sunday noon. Ha-ha, and I ended up having a pretty upset stomach, particularly because of the spiciness of the spaghetti.

But hey, at least I was meat-free since Monday! Yes, I’m still meat-free ’till now. ;-)

Well, I did eat eggs though, so I can’t really promise myself going full-blown vegan. But heck, it’s much of a sacrifice trying to ditch my grand mom’s cooking. Yes, I was amidst this prefiguring vision illusion that meat sucks! LOL. :D Of course, I can’t stick to the plan should not I resist to urge and temptation, right? :P

Anyways, here’s something I cooked last Monday night for the next day’s baon:

My Version of Spinach and Feta Pasta!

*Ta-dah! My own version of Spinach and Feta Pasta. Sorry, I’m still not no good in meal presentation. :P *

You can view the recipe here. I used whole grain penne instead, and ditched red pepper flakes. You see, I’m really on gastritis diet, and I need something with lotsa fiber, and avoid something hot and spicy. :( I also need to watch out on my dairy intake, and should be something that’s fat-free. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find fat-free feta cheese. But heck, I’m a sucker for cheese (I actually have four kinds of cheese on my fridge at the moment ;) ), and don’t want to lose them on my yummy-licious meal.

All in all, it has a great, tangy taste. I love how the mushrooms neutralizes the sour-y flavor of tomatoes. I didn’t indulge much on the tomatoes though, since I just can’t have too much acid on my system. I also love how the feta cheese contributed to the tangy flavor, making the meal overall tastier. I think the meal won’t be complete without it.

I let my non-vegetarian folks try it out. My mom really loved it. She told me she used to eat something like this back in Greece. My grand mom who really has finicky taste buds, on the other hand, told me that she wasn’t really amused at first. But, she started to love it amidst eating it. So there, my efforts weren’t put to waste. :D
